Last week, Benjamin Moore brought together leading interior designers, architects, and influencers for an exclusive unveiling of the brand’s 2018 color of the year. Held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, the formal affair used the iconic walls of this city staple to project the hue that will set the tone for the upcoming year.
But arrangements of vibrant red roses atop islands in the bar area teased the result: Caliente AF-290. “Strong, radiant, and full of energy, Caliente AF-290 is total confidence. It is pleasing, passionate, and makes people feel special, like [getting] red carpet treatment,” Benjamin Moore director of strategic design intelligence Ellen O’Neill says in a statement. “Whether used as one note or on four walls, the spirited personality of red turns heads, signaling surprise and adventure.”
After the reveal, the white walls and dimmed lights in the Guggenheim ran red in celebration. It’s far from the only shade the company is putting forward for its 2018 Color Trends collection. The newly curated palette of 23 colors includes Cherry Wine, Cranberry Cocktail, Texas, Rose, and Deep Poinsettia to go alongside Caliente, as well as a range of whites, neutrals, and complementary bold hues.
